On-demand production enabled diverse experiences with shirtmaking at Lab77. Prints, oversized unisex cuts, and color-blocking were distinctive style elements
in the building of the brand.
As head of the style department at Lab77, I created several pieces that quickly became icons of the brand. The bodysuits and swimsuits were inspired by beachwear, yet sophisticated and versatile for various occasions. Our pursuit of differentiation and innovation led us to explore different cuts and silhouettes. The most used material was biodegradable polyamide.
Brazilian Carnival was always a serious matter at Lab77. During this time, we consistently met or exceeded sales targets comparable to those of the year-end season. Maintaining an on-demand production system, collections were designed so that pieces could be quickly manufactured, with some pre-fabricated parts that could even serve multiple products. This approach allowed us to efficiently capitalize on the best time of the year commercially. All collections were made from biodegradable reused polyamide. The drive was utilizing fabric colors already in our inventory to minimize material purchases.
The knitwear line played a strategic role in Lab77's development. The brand's flagship product was the printed unisex t-shirt. Building on this product, we developed a line of basic knits, sweatshirts, and ribbed fabrics with unique cuts that were renewed each collection cycle, featuring new colors, washes, prints, and applications. Lab77 developed exclusive knits using Brazilian organic cotton.
During my tenure as style director at Lab77, I created basic and versatile pieces that complemented the brand's mix and often became best-sellers in the on-demand production system. Each piece's creation was guided by fashion trends, generating desire, assembling looks, and constructing fashion narratives within each collection. Whenever possible, raw materials were sustainable, such as organic cotton, hemp fabric, biodegradable polyamide, banana fiber viscose, among others.
In 2022, observing the trends in the fashion market towards phygital experiences, I began developing 3D garments. After completing 2 modeling courses at Estúdio Crio, I embarked on projects and case studies aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of the digital market and development platforms.
